Artist Statement

Is every human born with an innate sense of empathy?

Is empathy only inherited through the teachings of our guardians?

When does empathy stop, and hate begin?

Whether caring for others’ wellbeing is ingrained from the start or not, we must employ the desire to care for others. The world is changing every day, and we must adapt in order to become more progressive, inclusive, courageous, multi-faceted. Doing better for future generations is why I believe exhibiting empathy and doing “good” is significant. We are all facing the same future.

My future is yours; your future is mine.

Static Division was formed from a deep sense of rage I have developed over the past few years. I feel rage for the nearly 240 anti-LGBTQ+ laws that have been passed in 2022. I feel rage for transgender youth who are being denied of their existence. I am speaking on societal issues from a privileged perspective. I am privileged to create a work of art that shouts at people like me; hypocrites. I am working towards progression. I am educating myself. I am listening.

We are all we have.
