SELF-ACTUALIZATION & OPTIMIZATION

Optimization is a constant journey we embark on to achieve our self-actualization. This journey develops struggles and successes to combine extinguished traits that contribute to our growth.

As an independent woman with ADHD, I have learned to improve in many areas, like developing strategies to focus on my work. However, the struggles with ADHD remain and fluctuate in various parts of my life. It has hindered some opportunities while helping me excel in other outcomes.

The Phoenix Rising exhibition gave me an opportunity to understand my process of self-actualization and self-optimization. Augment is a two-part installation that depicts these discoveries. The colored string installation expresses my struggle to overcome the constant battle to focus and reveals the internal path to self-actualization. The white shapes underneath the strings allude to the success of reaching a higher optimization. The interactive stacking shapes extend the concept by providing the audience with their own experience of integrative thinking. This type of skillset building helped me overcome my struggle towards optimizing my learning opportunities in college.

Please reflect upon your experiences and discover your optimization through this interactive exhibition as you go through the phoenix life cycle.
