This included what we wanted to incorporate into the stand, the size of the stand, and how we wanted to make the floor. text_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; text_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;center&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;29px|||||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We made the floor from a carbon fiber\/foam-core sandwich panel <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">using a wet layup process<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Both facesheets\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">were assembled<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0from ten\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">layers of carbon fiber that\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">were<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0manufactured<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0using a hand-layup process.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0The foam was abraded and adhered to each side during these layups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243; text_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;center&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the holes were drilled<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the inside of the holes were painted with\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">epoxy,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0so the foam would not get wet while in use. Then\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0filament wound rods and aluminum teeth were attached. The floor was also covered with an epoxy\/sand mixture to increase the coefficient of friction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.23.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.23.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/hunterslitelift\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/2024\/04\/small-winder.jpg&#8221; title_text=&#8221;small winder&#8221; align=&#8221;center&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.24.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.24.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; text_text_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; text_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;center&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To create the initial rod,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0we cut a foam core into different lengths, but always at 1 in x 1 in width and height.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Once\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the foam was cut<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, we would draw a braided carbon fiber sleeve over the foam. The threaded rods\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">were placed<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0within the small vertical beams\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0connectors\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">were used<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at the corners before being bolted.
