Conduct

We expect our guests to abide by Winona State University’s policies for all University sponsored events:

It is the mission of the Office to foster and support all members of the Winona State University “community of learners” by enabling them to engage in academic pursuits, obtain and maintain employment, and utilize university services without experiencing discrimination based upon:

  • race
  • sex
  • color
  • creed
  • religion
  • age
  • national origin
  • disability
  • marital status
  • status with regard to public assistance
  • gender identity
  • gender expression

In addition, discrimination in employment based upon familial status or membership or activity in a local commission as defined by law is also prohibited.

To this end, we are dedicated to ensuring a campus environment that is free from discrimination or harassment. We work to provide an intellectually and culturally vibrant environment where all individuals are welcomed, valued, respected and unobstructed in their pursuit of excellence in their work and scholarship.

The Affirmative Action Office is responsible for providing services to faculty, staff, and students who believe they have been harassed or discriminated against because they are a member of a protected class. We are responsible for investigating allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual violence and/or Title IX sex discrimination.

The policies and procedural guidance in which these complaints are investigated include 1B.1 Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination Policy and 1B.1.1 Procedure, 1B.3 Sexual Violence Policy and 1B.3.1 Procedure from the Minnesota State system office.
