It is the oldest flour mill found in Southeast Minnesota.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The mill was a water-powered gristmill on Big Trout Creek.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 1917 the roof was damaged by a cyclone. When it was repaired they put a flat roof on instead of the gable roof.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When the historical society took it over they returned the roof to the gable roof it originally had.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1356\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1356\" style=\"width: 199px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/photo1\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1356\" src=\"https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo1-e1574203325216-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo1-e1574203325216-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo1-e1574203325216-768x1155.jpg 768w, https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo1-e1574203325216-681x1024.jpg 681w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1356\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The mill has several flights of stairs each with the names of people who have worked there.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now the mill is still intact but is no longer used to make flour. It stands as a historic site and museum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">George Johnson, of Rushford, Minnesota, visited the mill on Saturday, Oct. 5. He said he thought it was a beautiful historic place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jeff Wershofen started working at the mill as a child because it was where there was adult supervision.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1357\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1357\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/photo2-2\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1357\" src=\"https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo2-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo2-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo2-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/educate.winona.edu\/winona360\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Photo2-1024x681.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1357\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Throughout the mill, there are flour bags hung.
