This is a continuing education course that will be offered three weekends during the summer of 2023: July 15 and 16, 22 and 23 and 29 and 30, during National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. The training will be offered over 3 consecutive weekends (Saturday and Sunday), for 6 days altogether, from 9am to 5:30 pm each of those 6 days. Each training will be 7.5 hours for a total of 45 hours of supervision training. This will meet the 45-hour contact hour supervision training for Minnesota’s board approved supervisor application.
The Training
The methodology to be used in our training are (1) lectures, (2) PowerPoint presentations, (3) video presentations, (4) role-plays, (5) case studies, and (6) group discussion.
Participants will receive:
1. A copy of The New Handbook of Counseling Supervision by Borders, L.D, and Brown, L.L.

2. A USB drive with documents, articles, frameworks, and assessments used during the
workshop and that are important to practice supervision in Minnesota and with high multicultural competence from a multicultural orientation.
Overarching frameworks guiding the training
1. CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service) – Included in framework: cultural
humility & cultural competency and importance of policies, all key components in our training.
2. MCO (multicultural orientation) – Included in framework: cultural humility, cultural
opportunities, cultural comfort, each central in our training.
3. MSJCC (Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies) – Included in
framework: social justice and advocacy in counseling.
