Overall Function

To provide additional outer storage capacity to any vehicle.

Scope of Project

Testing of the CargoX, Rufbox will focus on the front panel due to its exposure to high head winds, wide temperature ranges, and impacts from road debris. A 3-point bend test in accordance with ASTM D790 standard will be performed to test flexural properties. Impact testing in accordance with ASTM D256 will be carried out at ambient temperature and -30C temperature to simulate the impact resistance at temperature ranges the Rufbox will face. ASTM D6110 will also be used to evaluate the flexural strength of the front panel at ambient temperature and -30C temperature. Five specimens will be tested for each ASTM standard and the averages will be recorded. A visual and dimensional inspection will also be carried out. The focus will be on resin starved areas, blisters on the surface and delamination of the matrix. Dimensional inspection will be based off engineering drawings.
