TESTING

Weathering Testing

The Clay Pigeon Pitcher will be used in the outdoors, therefore environmental testing was an important aspect to this project. After the testing below was completed, there was no major impact to the strength and durability of the product after being used outdoors in rain or sunshine.

Water Absorption

The water absorption test was conducted to show the effects if the Clay Pigeon Pitcher is used in the rain.

UV Exposure

The UV exposure test was conducted to show the effects of humidity and sun exposure to the product.

Strength Testing

The other aspect of testing was making sure the Clay Pigeon Pitcher would be able to withstand the forces and stresses applied during normal operation. After testing was completed, the materials the Clay Pigeon Pitcher are created from (carbon fiber, glass fiber, epoxy resin) will withstand greater forces and stresses than even those applied during normal operation of the product.

Climbing Drum Peel Test

The climbing drum peel test was conducted to show that the carbon fiber will not delaminate from the Nomex honeycomb core.

Three Point Bend Test

The three point bend test was conducted to show that the material will withstand deflection and shear forces.
