The Future of Learning: Kickoff Week

Monday, September 27th marks the start of Future of Learning Kickoff Week. There are three ways you can participate:

  • World Cafe on Thursday, September 30th, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in Kryzsko Ballroom (Winona Campus). Stop by at your convenience and share your thoughts with friends, new and old on the future of learning at WSU.
  • Daily TLT 20-Minute eClinics and Learn Labs on the EDUCAUSE New Horizon Report: Teaching and Learning Edition. Check your email for an invitation to Join in person, via Zoom, or watch the recording. We will focus on the role of technology in the future of learning and the emerging trends of artificial intelligence, hybrid courses, learning analytics, badging, open educational resources, and quality online learning.
  • Learning Technology Innovation Challenge. Check your email for an invitation to an online challenge. How might WSU leverage technology in new and exciting ways to improve learning in the future? Submit your idea, comment on the ideas of others, and you might just win a $50 Amazon Gift Card!

Join the World Café This Thursday

An open, ongoing conversation will be happening in person in the Kryzsko Ballroom (formerly the East Room) this Thursday. Bring a friend, make new ones, and share your thoughts, feelings, and ideas about the future of learning at WSU. You do not need to stay for the entire event. Join us whenever you can and plan to spend about 30 minutes. We will use a World Café format that emphasizes welcoming, open, dialog. Respond to pre-established questions or go off in another direction. Don’t feel like talking? There will be other ways to share, including writing down your thoughts or doodling or sketching a picture. Students, faculty, and staff are all encouraged to participate!

Learning Technology Innovation Challenge

Do you have an idea for how WSU could use technology to better support teaching and learning in the future? Is there an emerging technology that will transform learning or an existing technology we are not using to its full potential? Visit our online idea board and submit your idea. You can also comment on the ideas of others and like them. You only have 10 likes, so use them wisely. We will award three $50 Amazon gift cards to three people with the highest score on the challenge. The link to the idea board is posted as an announcement on D2L and will be sent to you via email. Use StarID@go.minnstate.edu (student) or StarID@minnstate.edu (employee) and your StarID password to sign in. The application will use your name and profile picture to identify your ideas and comments. 

Generate ideas in one of the following categories: 

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Blended or hybrid course models
  • Learning analytics
  • Microcredentialing or badging
  • Open educational resources
  • Quality online learning
  • Extended reality
  • Other
