Design Process

The main goal of this project is to introduce students to all the many facets of the creation of a new product from design to manufacturing. The first step in our design process was for each individual in the team to create their own idea for a sawhorse that improves on some aspect of sawhorses you can buy on the market today. After an initial presentation of ideas between our group members we created a survey, as seen below, to send our to prospective customers that lead the next phase of the design process. All the individual ideas were scraped and new ideas where created in respect to the customers preferences. From these ideas we chose our top two designs to consider for development.

The next step was to compile all the input and research and create a comprehensive list of design concerns that any pursued designs must meet. The concerns were divided into goals and requirements. In respect to these goals and requirements Design 1 was chosen as our finalist.
