Solidworks drawing of the final design:

The final design will be constructed through sandwich panels with a closed-cell foam core with layers of E-glass and then final outer layers of carbon fiber. The individual pieces will be attached together with adhesives and hardware to ensure a long lifetime for the product. The design will incorporate the custom feet pieces and the LED lights laid into the top surface of the board as well as the risers and skill holes for added complexity. The board will be coated with a polyurethane finish to ensure UV resistance for a long lasting product!

The next step after narrowing down to the final design was to create an initial testing unit.

Qualification Test Unit:

Pictured below is the test unit which was created to test the construction of the board against the design concerns. It was also visually inspected to ensure that the manufacturing processes chosen could create a quality product.

The board performed and passed each subsequent test.

Members of the team decided to test the functionality of the product in its traditional setting with a little gameplay. The next step in the process was to create the first article.

First Article/ Final Product:

Shown below is the final product with the LED lights inlaid into the surface and all the 3D printed components added.

The final product allows for the players to enjoy cornhole during the day and at night.
